Recruiters receive numerous CV everyday, and you don't want your CV end up in the bin, here are the FAQ about CV from candidates and our suggestions:

What should we put on CV to make it look stronger?

Apart from your working experience, recruiters are interested to see what contributions you have made for the team and company, this is something that make you stand out from peers, if possible, try to quantify what you have achieved for each position eg generated XXX revenue; increased turnover by XXX%; received double promotion within 18 months, etc.

What should we avoid putting on CV?

1) excessive pages, generally speaking keeping your CV to 2-3 pages will be ideal, as recruiters will lose patience for reading too many pages. If you have supplemental information you want to add, put it in appendix following CV

2) over the top design and too many logos, recruiters may have difficulty putting your CV onto their computer system

Should I put my current and expected salary on CV?

There is no definite answer and it depends case by case.  We suggest you to discuss with your recruiter and find out if your current and expected salary are within market range.  For example, if your current salary is on higher range, and you are open to discuss expected salary, we would suggest you to refrain from putting those information on system, wait until you have the interview and find out more information about the role before making a decision, as sometime companies will concern candidates' salary expectation is out of their budget.

How should I explain the blank period on my CV?

If there is a long blank period on CV (longer than 3 months), we suggest you to put a genuine and legitimate reason for it, which can be on holiday, to run family business, etc.

The worst thing to do is to lie and make up a reason, as the employers are able to dig things out by doing reference check.  If you do have a blank period on CV, just relax and you are still able to pursue your dream job, we had experience placing a candidate who was not working for 2 years to look after her child, because she performed well in the interview and had solid working experience and qualification!
